The India Rural Development Report (IRDR) is the flagship report of the IDFC Rural Development Network, supported by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD). The theme for this year’s report is ‘Rural Transformation’, with a focus on connectivity as a critical enabler of growth and prosperity in rural areas. Rural growth is contingent on the connectivity of rural production centres to markets and the Report aims to discuss the strengthening of these linkages. In particular, the report will focus on four vital connectors, namely, roads, digital connectivity, energy and access to finance. The Report will explore the socio-economic consequences of the connectivity deficits on the rural economy and suggest key policy changes. A high powered Advisory Council, chaired by Dr. Bibek Debroy, Member NITI Aayog, provides intellectual guidance to the report.
